Power Walk Pilates & Forest Bathing!!

Donna here, today I wanted to talk to you about my favorite class t

o start my mornings, the Power Walk Pilates Class. Not only does this workout use 90% of your body’s muscles while correcting posture, but the fresh spring air is relaxing and energizing way to start the day! Urban pole walking is a supercharged fitness routine that will give you a full-body workout. It uses special poles designed to engage the muscles of your core, upper body and legs providing a total body workout. They provide gentle toning and strengthening for people recovering from injury, chronic conditions, pre/postnatal conditions and for people who simply want to get into great shape while enjoying the fresh-air socializing workout. Forest Bathing the Japanese practice of shinrin yoku is good for both physical and mental wellbeing. It is proven to reduce stress hormone production, improve feelings of happiness and free up creativity, as well as lower heart rate and blood pressure, boost the immune system and accelerate recovery from illness. Forest bathing is the practice of soaking up the sights, sounds, and feel of our natural environment. It’s an effortless way to enjoy the therapeutic benefits of being outdoors. This exercise doesn’t require any special skills or equipment. Your body’s natural powers of sight, smell, and hearing are all that are necessary.

How Our Class Will Run: The power walk class starts with a 15 min standing warm up (similar to our Pilates classes) and then we walk for 30 mins we the urban poles I teach alignment and proper movement with poles for max calories burning and joint relief. Everyone walks at their own pace and distance; we meet back for a 15min standing stretch with poles. It’s very refreshing one of my favorite activities.
