What is a Health Coach?

The Health Issues in North America are growing!

The health of North America is steadily declining despite the amount of money spent on health care, high-technology medicine, and educational efforts. Diabetes and obesity rates continue to sky-rocket among adults and children. Cancer is the leading cause of death in Canada and is responsible for 30% of all deaths.

So what is the problem?

While doctors are trained to treat the specific illness, they don’t look at or treat the body as a whole; body, mind and spirit, which all could be leading to poor health.  Nurses, doctors and other medical professionals do not have the time to help their patients change the behaviours that are leading to poor health.

Here is where Health Coaches can Help

These professionals provide the drive and guidance their clients need to improve their health, careers, relationships, and transform lives. They help clients to:

  • Recognise their skills and dreams
  • Refocus their life’s goals
  • Move past challenges that stand in the way of those goals
  • They help their clients find the motivation and tools to get to their physical and emotional health goals.

I love sharing the message of a healthy lifestyle and my favourite tips and tricks with people. I can come talk to your co-workers, participate in panel discussions or conduct group workshops.  You should know that I don’t like diets and don’t subscribe to one specific theory or approach. I believe that real, whole foods, moving daily and learning how to deal with stress is the real keys to a healthy life.
